My Little Pony Process art for issue #22 of Friendship is Magic for idwcomics!
I had a good response last time I posted process art of one of my covers and I have been asked for more. So here some more step by step process art for one of my latest issues of MLP!
1 - Thumbnail of the idea. This was the idea chosen since it was very eye catching and fun. Also pays a little bit of a tribute to an X-Men Days of Future Past comic cover since I am a fan of the X-Men. :)
2 - Pencils. I pencil digitally in Manga Studio. It has some great tools that really help with penciling and laying out a page.
3 - Inks! I print out my page, lightbox it, and ink it traditionally.
4 - Watercolours! That’s right. All my shadows or tones are done traditionally in watercolour.
5 - Scan the piece back into the computer and digitally put in the flat colours.
6 - Multiply the watercolour layer over the flats and we have an almost finished piece!
7 - (Which is the first picture). I do add touch ups digitally in photoshop to pop the brights and darken the darks!
Hope you enjoyed my little process art post! :)
